wonderful world?

1lots of children cry for food but unheard. countless animals die out across the world because they have no where left to live. the rate of the plant exstinction is in the range of 1000 times faster then the natural rate estimated. this is caused by you. don’t you feel like you are a parasite on earth?

you donno how to fix the holes in the ozonelayer. you donno how to bring back even one animal that has exstincted. you donno how u bring back the forest that once was where its now a desert. if you donno how to fix it, please stop breaking it. i beg you.

this message is for all of you. you have watches, bicycles, computers, cars, tv sets. the list can go on for 2 days. why are you who has everything still so greedy? why are you afraid to share, even when you have more then enough? why do you need more?

at school, you teach us to share, to respect others, to not to hurt other creatures, to not to fight with others, to work things out, and to clean up our mess..! you teach us how to behave. then why do you go out and do the things you tell us not to do? did you have to worry about these things when you were my age?

Why does coffee make you stay awake?

IMG_0402The world’s most favorite drink or drug? How does it actually work? Do you wonder why coffee makes you stay awake? This is for all the café fans out there (which includes me)! Recently, I’ve just read an article about coffee on our brain. The thing is « In our brain, there are chemical sells called <Adenosine>. This chemical makes you feel tired. When you drink coffee, the Caffeine goes to replace the Adenosine which makes you feel fresch and awake. »
If so, why is it bad to drink it a lot? In fact, it is so simple. Once the Caffeine doubles its number, the Adenosine comes back to replace the position of Caffeine. The more Adenosines, the more tired you feel.
Of course, it doesn’t stop there. Check yourself why! Then tell me!!

Trip to east by my bike

During winter 2010, the musoons  blowed very far from north, Serberia. It’s also a time for holidays. My friend and I decided to take our bike, my bike to the east, Vietnam. We took our small 20-kilometer-per-hour Charley brand bike. Our bike, of course, ran very slow, but we enjoyed it very much. Most people would never believe Charley could reach that far. It took 5 days to get there in a distance of only 200 kilometers. While we were on our way, oh, we loved it so much. We slept on the way with  the local people, in pagoda. People there taught me lots of things. They asked me to get up in a very early morning that I never used to, the drought brown rice fields. Can you guess why they took me there? It was amazing. Most children are ready out of home to the field to catch snakes!!

Cambodian language or Khmer

Cambodian, also known as Khmer, is the official language of the Kingdom of Cambodia and it is spoken by almost all Cambodians. Khmer is also understood by people in many bordering countries such as Thailand (in the eastern provinces of Buriram, Surin, and Srisket in the northern Thailand), in the Mekong Delta region of South Vietnam, and in southern Laos .
Cambodian is the major modern representative of the Mon-Khmer language family which includes hundreds of related dialects scattered over most of mainland Southeast Asia. As for foreign influences on the language, the Khmer language has borrowed many words from Sankrit. With the advent of Theravada Buddhism at the beginning of the fifteenth century, Khmer began to borrow Pali words, and continues to use Pali as a major source of neologisms today (Huffman 1970). During the period of French domination, many French words were borrowed into the language and have become a part of the colloquial language, as well as medical and technical terms. There is also a smattering of Chinese and Vietnamese loanwords in colloquial speech.
Unlike Thai, Vietnamese, and Lao, Khmer is non-tonal and has a high percentage of disyllabic words which are derived from monosyllabic bases by prefixation, and infixation.
The Cambodian script (called Khmer letters) are all probably derived from various forms of the ancient Brahmi script of South India. The Cambodian script has symbols for thirty-three consonants, twenty-four dependent vowels, twelve independent vowels, and several diacritic symbols. Most consonants have reduced or modified forms, called sub-consonants, when they occur as the second member of a consonant cluster. Vowels may be written before, after, over, or under a consonant symbol.
Some efforts to standardize Khmer spelling have been attempted, but inconsistencies persist, and many words have more than one accepted spelling. A two-volume dictionary prepared under the direction of the Venerable Chuon Nath of the Buddhist Institute in Phnom Penh is the standard work on Khmer lexicography.
Khmer is divided into three historical stages: Old Khmer (seventh to twelfth century A.D.), Middle Khmer (twelfth to seventeenth century A.D.), and Modern Khmer (seventeenth century to the present). It is likely that Old Khmer was the language of Chenla. The language of Funan was most probably a Mon-Khmer language. The earliest inscription in Khmer, found at Angkor Borei in Takev Province south of Phnom Penh, dates from A.D. 611.

Life abroad is wonderful but hard

I am typing this on the desk in Sila Uni, a small uni in Busan. The life here is charming and wonderful. When we go out along the beautiful streets with bright light everywhere, see the kind hearted people, the first question they would ask us is where we are from with their broken English. It makes us laugh, haha. We are here to grow and learn, challenge ourselves, train ourselves, and stretch our limits. It’s wonderful, isn’t it? But there are 2 things which are the most difficult is loneliness and food.we are all alone all the time. When you are on the way too long, your new fades and travel; for example, can feel like you are on the way of pointless and endless. The food’s also a problem; hard one. When you eat some kinds of food which you never eat in your whole life, your stomach can not handle; you tongue does not accept the new tast; oh, dear, that’s the most terrible thing!!

Greeting from Busan, a little Cambodian guy!!

Real life!!

I do not know how hard it is, how terrible it is to starve to death. « Last year 2011, I went to Stung Meanchey where the poor people live. I stayed in a house of my friend. I just parked my moto bike, there was 2 kids( a boy and a girl), homeless children, came to ask for some little dirty water, which we kept out side the house, to drink. My friend, he was kind as  well asked the children to have a drink in his house. We both are a kind of people who want to know someone else’s bussiness. We asked  them why they came to collect rubish instead of going to school and about their background!! The boy who was the older brother of the girl answered with a little tear, but he tried to comfort himself  » my dad left us while mum’s sick seriously », boy continue » mum will starve to die if we don’t come here ». » We do not want to be here, in this dirty dangerous place, but we have no choice » he mumbled. My friend seemed crying, then he asked « Can you tell us about your story »?  » Mum got married with my new dad. We rent a small house. Dad got a news to work at the border of Thailand, he wanted to take a chance there. Mum didn’t agree, but dad still went there. Mum sold Khmer noodle all day long but it was just enough for day by the day. Mum expected dad comes back, but very bad luck; dad fell from the building and died. Mum had nothing to do but to sell noodle. One day, the authority came and claimed that the house is theirs and they took it. Mum had no where to go. We stayed along the street for a week before she could find a place. We stayed at the back of Aunt. Sok’s house. Mum helped her to sell the wood. Aunt.Sok’s son saw my mum, he raped her. Mum did not want us to leave, so she decided to live with him. We stayed together for 3 months. Aunt.Sok died cos of cancer 4 months later. My new dad left us. The mum thought the house was Aunt.Sok’s house, but it was not. Then we had to move again. This time I stopped my school. Aunt.Keo asked mum to work in a restaurant in Thailand, she said mum could earned a lot there. Mum had no choice cos she wanted us to go to study. She went there.  From that on, I never saw my mum  and we lost contact. Mum was cheated. Aunt.Keo cheated her and sell her at the border to Thailand. My sister and I had no food, so we stopped our class and went the pick up rubish to sell for food. We just slept where we were tired. 6 months later, the police caught Aunt.Keo. They sent mum back home. Mum had no money at all. Mum tried a find a place. She found a place near domb. She had no job, no money. So she decided to do what she did in Thailand secretely. At first, we did not know, but my friends told me. We decided to follow her. And we found out what happened. »the boy mubled with tears »why she did it? Finally, we asked her frankly. She said what could she do if she did not do it. Time to time, mum went to many houses everyday »  he comforted himself and drank some water,  » Last month, she got sick. She is sick until now. My sister and I try to find some money to buy her a medicine. She says she wants to eat a fish heads soup, but  I can’t affort cos I need to buy her medicine ». My friend and I listened carefully, almost to forget to breath. We have a proto dicision. We want to give the money to them to buy fish but we don’t really know whether the boy said something true or not. So we decided to buy them a kilo of fish. We told the boy to come back to get the fish for the next day. The next day, we bought a kilo of fish but the boy never appeared. We waited waited waited. We still think that the boy might forget, so another next day, we bought another kilo of fish. The boy did not come. My friend did not believe it. He said the boy might be lost. He decided to find him. We spent a long long time driving our moto to find the boy. When we reach a pagoda, oh, dear, we finally found him. He was shaved his hair. His mum died. When the boy saw us, he ran in order to hug but he didn’t cos he thought his body is so dirty to hug us. We know the reason why he never come to take the fish. The boy said »mum wants only to eat her last fish but she died. We can’t give her even the last good food »..He cries, his sister cries and they hug hug. We cried too.!!

Donnating blood

26 January 2012 was the most generous day ever. I went to Ong Dong hospital which is a public hospital to see an orphan who was so ill. She needed blood, but there was not enough blood for her. She waited to die. One of my colleague and I were there. We could not wait to see her dieing; so we had to do something. We decided to test our blood whether one of us has the same to her blood. My colleague was a little bit weak. I did not trust the hospital’s security, too, my health. Result is positive. The group blood of the orphan is B; I have group blood B, and my colleague has O; so lucky!! We finaly donnated our blood to her. We think it was a little  bit risky, but I could at least save someone’s life..

Nouvelles planètes!!

The two newly-found-earth-sized planets, called Kepler-20e and Kepler-20f might hold life. The scientists are not so sure yet because their instruments are not sensitive enough to detect them. One of them circles its sun in just 6 Earth days, and other does in 19. Scientists believe that there might be others like them exist. The reason that the scientists expect that the planets might hold life because the temperature was estimated at an average of about 30’c- perfectly for liquid water. Only 20 years, people have been able to look out at the universe and realize that other planets exist in the universe too. Scientists estimate that we might find other planets could hold life or could be habitable which we can settle our alien-planet colony.

Best in Koh Kong!!

South-west Cambodia, Koh Kong, it is a new destination for tourists. Well, last year, I had a holiday. I went there. Koh Kong is nothing but nature. I don’t know why it captured my heart. I really wonder why I say this place is one of the most interesting places I’ve ever been to. Perhaps, I went there with my friends? Hmm, let see!! Koh Kong has long had a reputation as a “Wild West” frontier town.  With the opening of the Thai-Cambodian bridge across the river and the building of several casinos near the border post, the town has become an increasingly popular tourist destination. What inspires me the most was inhabitant places. I took a boat to Koh Kong Island, trekking in the Cardamom Mountains along the Ta Tai River. I’ve seen as well a beach where sea animals breed an lay their babies..It was amazing at the night time, you can see the fireflies everywhere.

Can you guess why they took me there? It was amazing. Most children are ready out of home to the field. They brought a bent iron like hook and a plastic bag. They used that bent iron to put in a hole and tossup. Not very long, a snake appeared. They kept doing it to many other holes, and it worked every time. I didn’t eat that snake!!

First time in Phnom Penh

Two of us, my sister and I on the back of Motodop winds through the trafic on Kampuchea Krom Avenue, which runs in a straight line to the city center. We cross other major boulevards- Mao Tse Tong, Sivutha, Monivong ; before reaching a strenge large star-shaped struture with a golden color surrounded by many taxis and buses and cylos. That was Psa Thmey or central market, one of the largest in Phnom Penh, where anything can we found. The motodop dropped us off opposite the Royal Palace, where the 2 rivers, the Tonle sap and Mekong flow together. Viewed fromthe promeade, they  appeared to be very distinct. On one sideof the river sis the clear blue water of Tonle Sap and onthe other, the enormous muddy flow of the Mekong. They both flow reversely. We stopped for while to take a rest. We soon were surrounded by a group of children. They looked at us with doubts and strenges. We were the only white-Cambodian Chinese-like with glasses.

Paradis sur la Terre

Paradis sur la Terre in French means Paradise on earth. Why is it so ? As everyone knows from fairy tale or some document about paradise that a very beautiful place that you can’t find somewhere else like it on earth is paradise. Now I can find it on earth. It’s called Bokor. It’s another paradise which located on earth. It is  an unforgetable beautiful comfortable fresh view on the top of a very quite high mountain with moving clouds and low temperature. It used to be a French town during French colonization. Then it became an abandoned ghost town after. During 1980 plus, this place was a kind of thief’s home. Now, no doubt, it becomes one of the safest place in Cambodia beside the forbidden time which it’s not garenteed. I recommend you to bring your thick coad ; otherwise you might be frozen, and to avoid camping near the hill because the wind blows strongly. Your tent can possibly be blowed away. If you go there, I am sure that your trip will be an never-ending lovely trip ever !!Beautiful sun set on the top of the paradise..

Hyundai Beach

Can you find me?South of south-korea ; national park at Hyundai beach. People dressed very Korean. Most people brought their families, their friends to see a beautiful amazing white beach and a pretty unique cliff. I myself was there alone was so lonely, and homesick. I should have seen it with my family or friends. The view is so beautiful ; with its nature of blue sea, white beach, grey-brown cliff, green trees surround, and High-rise building nearby. That was the first time I’ve seen an amazing beautiful nature abroad. One thing which is strenge is that the beach was empty ; no visitor, no one swim, very quiet while the water was really warm to swim in case of other beaches are quite frozen to swim. I’ve nothing to show you, but only a picture of me with my Khmer traditional dress amount all the people dressed in Korean styles. If I am not wrong, I was the only foreigner who dressed quite different.

Phnom Penh Trafic

Two-wheeled vihicles with not-wearing helmet drivers horned all over the places, narrowly avoiding each other on a little tiny streets. They moved in a fast speed around 15 kilometers an hour.  This is the trafic during the year of 2000. Now, everything is quite different. It started to be very different during thèse last few years. There have been more and more cars, luxury cars. The Streets have been busier and busier. But the speed is more or less the same, very slow. There have been more trafic polices waiting for their preys ; people who don’t obey the trafic law.  Neverthless, the Streets have been changed, it’s larger and more convenient.

Cambodia

Cambodian smileCambodia is a land of extremes. Its history is fraught with such violence and yet its future is fulfilled with so much hope. Cambodia’s people, as it’s called Khmer, struggle and selfless sacrifice for its victory and its future. Cambodia has become a never-ending love affair for everyone even though it bothers us with dust, dirt and even smells. Honestly, people might fall in love because os the country and its people with its history. Cambodia has had so much sadness and sorrow, and yet the Cambodians always have a ready smile, a fresh smile. I am amazed  that human nature has so much forgiveness withing. Cambodian have very little to eat, but they invite you to share their meals with. Perhaps it’s their beliefs. But what I do know is that Cambodia, by any other name, is a soul-searching experience. it will always be so until the souls have been put to rest. For always, this is my country. This is my Cambodia.
